The Wyse units use ThinOS which is a proprietary OS written by Wyse. Everyone else bases their TC's off of a Linux Distro and relies on the RDP Linux stack which is lacking in many cases with 2008 R2. In the non-Windows TC WYSE IMO is the only real option.

We have quite a few RDS installations and I would recommend WYSE as the TC vendor.Ī windows based TC will ensure greater compatibility with the scanner however their cost is high. I Imagine it would of worked well over 1 1GB LAN connection but if your WAN is dodgy (this 1 was) it makes your life hell! The ADSL sites were awful because of the changing upload constantly. In this case the sites connected to our datacentre, Datacentre then connected via leased lines to core sites (2 - 20MB). our DC also connected to a slower cloud, then smaller sites connected to this cloud via ADSL. (again, annoyed a lot of people)Īs you can imagine the decisions taken above annoyed a lot of users because they are fairly mundane activities. USB devices - We had a lot of issues with users an USB devices, especially people transfering lots of data across the network to their USB. This usually happened when the network or server was under a fair bit of load Video - Occasionaly we had issues with videos in web browsers being very very jittery. In our case, the decision was taken to disable sound on the terminal sesisons (annoyed lots of users)
Sound - If your remoted in to the farm, the sound will have to travel back across the network taking up bandwidth. However, the following issues were encountered regularly Each site had a local DHCP server that used DHCP extensions to automatically create a remote desktop connection to the farm, then the user simply logged in and had access. I used to work in a place that used thin client WYSE devices to remote desktop into a terminal Services Farm.
